Today is the last episode of the How I Do Content Podcast for 2022!
Can you believe we started 2022 on Episode 36 and here we are 12 months later closing out the year with Episode 82?
And what a wild ride 2022 has been, right?!
So before I turn off the mic for the 2022 season, I want to do an end-of-the-year review episode where I reflect on the year that was 2022.
I’m a big believer that taking the time to reflect on your year actually helps you to evolve and grow each year. It’s something I do EVERY year, and I find it helpful to close out one chapter and move into the next year with clarity and excitement.
So in today’s episode, I’ll share my biggest lessons from 2022, what I’m most proud of, and a glimpse into my 2023 vision.
So let’s recap!
I look back now and laugh because I quite literally asked for this year to be the year of expansion – and the universe certainly over delivered in the expansion.
It was expansive on many different levels. Sometimes good and sometimes very challenging.
I’m not going to lie – 2022 has been my most challenging in business.
But it also made me realise how far I’ve come AND how much I can hold.
Often it was uncomfortable AF but I kept going and I have a newfound appreciation for myself and my capacity.
And super fucking grateful for past Tahryn who decided to continually invest in herself and her business because boy oh boy I relied on all my magic spells and superpowers this year.
To quote my legendary friend Tracey Spencer – “the bigger the wobbles, the bigger the expansion.”
And, in the end, even though 2022 has been my most challenging year in business, it’s also been the year I’ve made the most money.
I’ve grown my revenue + profit year on year and I attribute that to taking the time to build rock-solid foundations over getting caught up in shiny shit.
These foundations supported me when things felt super wobbly.
In an online space which is forever talking about quantum leaps, making your business go boom and collapsing time – it’s easy to feel frustrated or that there’s something wrong with you if you don’t hit 10k, 50k, 100k months after you share your offer once or twice.
Especially when someone else online is hitting those milestones with apparent ease.
Here’s the thing – it takes time and you can’t compare yourself to anyone else because that’s a really fucking slippery slope.
I myself tumbled down this slippery slope this year. Because there are lots of other business coaches out there. Business coaches who share their Stripe transactions like I share photos of Ned.
And for a while there I started to question “who am I to be a business coach when I don’t have $100k months”?
I started judging myself for not being further along.
But I reminded myself again and again that my business is my legacy, not a passing trend.
It will take time and I’m committed to building a profitable and sustainable business that not only looks good on social media but behind the scenes too.
So if you also found yourself in this situation this year, please know that business is not a race.
You’re not in a rush and your timing is perfect.
Build those rock-solid foundations and your business will stand the test of time and you won’t burn yourself out trying to be someone you’re not.
Which leads perfectly to my next lesson…
To quote Miss Cardi B – “I know that’s right!”
During this time when I was questioning everything about myself and my business, I saw a lot of the same messaging…
Messaging that really pissed me off.
Such as:
Plus a whole lot of other crap basically telling you that the way to be “successful” in business was basically to suck it up and be more extroverted.
And that it’s up to introverts to “fit in” to a super noisy online space by being someone they’re not.
But you don’t need to be an extrovert to build a successful business.
You actually need to embrace what makes you magic and play to your strengths.
YOU get to choose how you show up and how you do business – so make it feel good for you.
I’ve seen a whole lotta humans burn themselves out this year by trying to transfigure themselves into someone they’re not.
Don’t let that be you!
The final lesson for 2022 is…
This year I really saw the impact of my cumulative efforts from the past 3 years.
From:
Shock horror – if you stick at something you actually see results!
Because I’m often asked how to brand, market and sell yourself so you stand out in the online space AND attract soulmate clients.
And that’s my secret.
It takes work and it takes time.
As I always say – I didn’t post once and hello 6-figures. It took me just under 3 years to reach that milestone.
It was a result of consistency and repetition to build a brand that stands out and that’s 100000% all me!
Stop trying to look for a secret hack or a way to shortcut the system because it doesn’t exist.
Focus on the things that actually generate the results you want. And I’ll give you the hot tip, they’re not quick fixes.
As I mentioned, this year has been my most challenging year in business. I’ve been faced with difficult conversations, not reaching my launch goals and navigating an online space that made me question who the fuck I am and where I fit in.
But it’s also been a year of immense growth and epic milestones.
Again this is why it’s important to reflect on your year and celebrate your wins because you too might immediately think of the challenges and hard times from 2022 and overlook the magic you also created this year.
It’s definitely been the best decision I made this year. And just under 3 months into the first round and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of wizards to support. We are changing the way that introverts do business. So look out extroverts!
And if you want in on the March 2023 round – applications are open for the next couple of weeks.
Perks of signing up before the end of this year:
Well, my word for 2023 has already come through loud and clear. And if you’re wondering how I arrive at my chosen word for the year – it usually comes to me after I’ve done my review for the year and dissected it with my coach.
This year was no exception.
So because Taylor Swift has been ever present in my life in 2022 – I’ve decided that it’s not a word, it’s an era.
2023 is going to be my “Leader Era”.
Being a leader.
Embodying leader energy.
Going first.
And working with magical humans who are ready and committed to shake shit up and take action towards their vision NOT someone else’s.
My magic is powerful and I’m ready to take it up a notch in 2023.
I want you to take some time and reflect on your year.
And no matter how small you think it is, it’s so important that you celebrate the shit out of yourself. Because you deserve it.
So that’s a wrap on the How I Do Content Podcast for 2022.
THANK YOU so much for listening in.
2022 has been a year of massive growth for the podcast and it wouldn’t be that way if it wasn’t for you.
I’m so grateful to you.
A big shout out to my podcast editor Pablo who works his magic each week. This podcast wouldn’t get out each week if it wasn’t for him!
