Business is a numbers game but sometimes people over-obsess with the numbers.

They think more followers, more email subscribers, more leads = more sales.

But that’s not always the case.

Because you can have 1,000 new followers, 100 people join your freebie, or 50 leads in your DMs…

But if they’re not ready to buy, it doesn’t matter.

You’ll still find yourself chasing conversations that go nowhere, spending more time convincing than converting and wondering what you’re missing.

When really it’s not always about how many people are in the room – it’s about who’s in the room.

And that’s something I’ve been reminded of lately.

Now you might think that if your sales are slow right now, well the answer is obviously that you just need more leads.

More eyeballs, more discovery calls, more people in your funnel.

But let’s be real – more doesn’t automatically mean better.

Because when those leads aren’t the right fit, all you’re doing is filling your pipeline with people who are never going to buy from you (harsh but true).

And the more of those people you attract, the more exhausting business starts to feel. You end up second-guessing yourself, discounting your offers, and wondering why you keep attracting clients who aren’t quite right.

That’s why I fully believe the goal isn’t to get more leads – it’s to get better ones.

The kind of leads who already believe in the transformation you offer.

The ones who are primed and ready to buy because your messaging made them feel seen, understood, and excited to take action.

So how do you do that? Well surprise surprise – it’s all to do with your messaging. 

Messaging is the solution to 99% of the challenges businesses face right now but they’re usually looking in the wrong place to solve them! (But hey – that’s a conversation for another day.)

How Messaging Creates High-Intent Leads

So let’s talk about how messaging actually does this – how does it turn random followers into ready-to-buy leads?

So, how do you start bringing in those high-intent, ready-to-buy dream clients into your sales pipeline?

Here are a few prompts to help you get clear on who you actually want to attract – and to make sure your messaging is doing the heavy lifting for you.

#1 What’s really important to them?

Not the surface-level stuff you think you “should” write down… but the values they make decisions from.

  • What do they care about most in business and in life?
  • What do they value in the people they work with?
  • What kind of energy or environment do they want to be part of?

#2 What are the three frustrations they’re most ready to solve right now?

These are the things they’re sick of dealing with and would pay to fix yesterday. 

They tell you exactly what to talk about in your content to build demand for your offers today, not someday. 

#3 What transformation do they crave the most?

What’s the thing they want to feel or experience on the other side of working with you? 

Go beyond “get more clients” or “grow their business” – what’s the deeper desire?

These 3 things are a great place to start when it comes to getting clear on who you want in the room with you.
