Messaging on the Mic: My Recommendations for a Fertility Awareness Teacher

This wizard is obsessed with all things fertility and supports women to:

  • Come off birth control
  • Understand fertility
  • Avoid pregnancy naturally
  • Learn to love your cycle 
  • Get pregnant naturally

I wanted to pick this Wizard because I know they’re coming back to the online space after having a baby. Getting back into it and re-launching your business after some time away can feel a little overwhelming, and your imposter syndrome can go nuts – so I wanted to give this Wizard the spark they needed.

All of this will be extremely helpful for you too if you’ve also taken a bit of a break from marketing online – it’ll give you a great place to start!

It’ll also be super helpful if you want a fresh start or a reset for your messaging + marketing.

It’s great for everyone! 

Of course, because this Wizard has been offline, they haven’t been sharing content consistently – but I’ve still had a little stalky-stalk of this wizard’s Instagram profile to get an insight into who they are and the magic they create. 

I’ve also read through their answers to the application questions so I can reconcile what they’ve been sharing and what they can do to get started again and elevate their messaging.

My messaging recommendations are from the perspective of the 3 components of The Bolt 3D Framework…

Desire, demand and differentiation. 

Because, in an online space that’s always growing and evolving, it’s not going to cut it if you can’t create desire, demand and differentiation in your messaging and marketing – so this is the perfect starting point.

How they can take their messaging to the next level:

#1 ALWAYS start with your ideal client

When you don’t know what to say or what to post – ALWAYS come back to your ideal client.

What message does your community need to hear from you right now?”

Your messaging informs your content – not the other way around. And the thing that informs them both? YOUR IDEAL CLIENT. 

The question I always ask myself and my clients when I’m making decisions about messaging + marketing is – What’s going on for your ideal client or customer right now? What are they currently feeling / experiencing / navigating?

So, what’s going on for your ideal client right now when it comes to conception, contraception, their cycle, fertility? Write a list.

Then, on the flipside, what is it they DESIRE instead? If they could wave a magic wand, what would their life look like when it comes to [insert your zone of genius]? 

The answer to these two questions will give you the starting point for your messaging + marketing – because good messaging + marketing always meets your ideal client where they’re at, and guides them to the solution (aka you and your offer). 

You’re wasting your time creating anything in your business if it doesn’t support your ideal client and solve a problem they have AND are willing to pay for. 

How could this wizard incorporate this into their messaging and marketing?

It could look like:

  • Tweaking their IG bio so it’s clear who they are, who they help, and how they help them 
  • Using Reels covers or adding text to graphics, so people instantly KNOW they’re in the right place
  • Creating content that speaks directly to their ideal client’s current reality and what they desire instead – we want someone to consume our content and think, “holy shit, how do they know this?!” 

#2 Create demand for your offers

Messaging + marketing isn’t just for funsies, and you didn’t start your business to become a full-time content creator.

There’s no point creating anything in your business if it doesn’t get you what you really want – clients + cash

Don’t make it weird – to have a business, you need to make sales. And to make sales, you need to create demand for your offers.

You do this by positioning your offers as something your ideal clients need in their lives.

And you do this through your messaging + marketing. 

If you’re clear on the current reality of your ideal client and what they desire… NOW you need to speak to how you + your offer help them go from where they are now to where they want to be.

What’s the outcome of working with you?

What’s the benefit of this to your ideal client?

Then, communicate this in a way that’s compelling and desirable to your ideal client, and activates them to move.

One of the questions I asked this wizard was, “What hesitations or objections might your ideal client or customer have before they hit the buy now button” – they said money, and a fear that fertility awareness may not work.

So this wizard needs to speak to the benefit of fertility awareness and why their ideal clients should give a damn – why is this important to their ideal client, and what’s the impact on their ideal client’s life?

You need to do this in a way that’s specific AF, and gives your ideal clients such a clear picture of what working with you will do for them. Be sure to give examples of how this plays out in their life.

The more specific you can be – the more sales you’ll make.

#3 Share what makes you unique + different

This is a super common theme whenever I’m reviewing someone’s messaging + marketing… So many business owners tend to do everything else BUT highlight what makes them different + unique.

Differentiation in your messaging + marketing is the thing that will help you stand out from all the other fertility awareness teachers online.

YOU are your point of difference in the market – so how can you share that with your ideal client so they feel confident knowing that you’re the wizard to support them?

Anything that makes you unique + different to other fertility awareness teachers is a key messaging piece that you want to share loudly, proudly and everywhere.

One of the questions I asked the wizards who applied for Messaging on the Mic was: “What makes YOU the person to work with? What makes you unique to other [insert what you do here]s?”

This wizard’s answer was, “I’m not a health influencer who will tell you to do 100 things. I’m very science-based and I explain technical things in a simplified way.”

So this is important to weave throughout your messaging and marketing – think about:

  • The processes, tools, techniques and modalities you have in your spellbook 
  • Your unique thoughts and perspectives on the things your ideal clients are currently experiencing, feeling and navigating 
  • The results / outcomes / transformations you support your clients to achieve 
  • Your story, and the experiences you have in common with your ideal clients

From there, I’d recommend sharing some content around:

  • What it’s like to work with me 
  • Why I’m the fertility awareness teacher for you 
  • X things my clients always tell me 
  • The reason I chose to become a fertility awareness teacher is…
  • Busting common misconceptions about fertility (and the areas you specialise in)
  • I wish you knew x about fertility (or some part of what you specialise in)

If you want dream clients to discover you and want to work with you – you need to truly own what makes you different and unique.

My key differentiation piece for this wizard is…

To go full-wizard and shine a light on their obsession with all things fertility – position yourself as the go-to wizard for all things fertility, so when others think about fertility they think of you.

This is ESSENTIAL in a time where information is easily accessible – but I get it. Imposter syndrome can be a bitch. The best way to combat this is to put your blinkers on, stay in your lane, and do what you do best. 

Plus, if I was coming back after an extended break, this is what I would do:

  1. Give your IG profile (and any other marketing channels) a little makeover or tidy-up. Make sure it reflects who you are, and that it’s clear who you help and how you help them.
  2. Write and share these 3 posts first: an intro post that you can use as a pinned post on your profile, a post about why you do what you do, and a post about how people can work with you. Keep it simple and get it done.
  3. Do some market research as a way to reconnect with your community and find out what they’re currently navigating / experiencing / feeling so you can then create messaging, marketing and offers that meet them where they’re at.

This is a simple and strategic starting point – the most important thing is to just do it.
