Practical Ways to Use Messaging in Business Every Day
It should come as no surprise that messaging in business is my favourite spell.
It’s something I use on repeat:
- It’s how I support my clients.
- It’s the anchor point I base all my work around.
- It’s the key to EVERYTHING I do in my business.
And here’s the truth: strong messaging can be a game-changer for any business – no matter your industry or stage of growth.
But here’s the problem. Messaging often gets overshadowed by the shiny, sexier aspects of business like:
- The latest Instagram feature
- A new AI tool promising to write all your content in seconds
- The $27 tripwire that supposedly turns into a million-dollar business
What the marketing gurus don’t tell you? All of those things are useless without strong messaging behind them.
That’s why I’m on a mission to give messaging a rebrand and show you just how powerful it is.
So in today’s episode of the How I Do Content Podcast, I’m sharing the exact ways I use messaging in business every single day – from sales pages, to emails, to Instagram content..
The Bolt 3D Framework: The Foundation of Messaging in Business
Before we dive into the examples, let’s quickly revisit my Bolt 3D Framework. It’s the foundation for everything I’m about to share:
- Desire – Speak directly to what your people want most (and what they’re sick of right now).
- Demand – Show why your offer matters now, not six months from now.
- Differentiation – Make it clear why you and your offer are different, so you don’t sound like every other Tom, Fred, or Harry Potter online.
These three elements are what transform your copy into content that resonates, connects, and converts.
Using Messaging in Sales Pages
When I write a sales page, I’m not just listing what’s included. I’m weaving desire, demand, and differentiation throughout so my dream clients feel seen, understood, and confident this is their next step.
- Desire in the headline: Speak straight to their frustrations and the transformation they want. Example: “You’re brilliant at what you do… so why aren’t you more in demand with your dream clients?”
- Demand in the body copy: Show them why action matters now, not later. Example: “It’s no longer enough to simply show up + share content consistently.”
- Differentiation in positioning: Explain why your offer is unique. Example: “Inside Micro Messaging, we don’t just talk about messaging… we work on your messaging, your content, and your offers together so it converts faster and sounds unmistakably like you.”
Your sales page shouldn’t read like a template – it should feel like a love letter to your dream client.
Using Messaging in Emails
If sales pages are love letters, emails are the everyday conversations that build trust. And email is prime real estate – it lands right in your dream client’s inbox.
Here’s how I use messaging in business emails:
- Desire in the subject line: Give them a reason to open. My open rates hover around 50% thanks to subject lines like:
- “How I filled my program with Beyoncé-level clients”
- “Ready to make Sirius sales in Q3/Q4?”
- Demand before the CTA: Show them the cost of waiting. Example: “If you’re waiting for the planets to align before you fix your messaging, you’re missing the point.”
- Differentiation in your offer: Don’t just be another course. Show them why yours is different. Example: “This isn’t another info-dump. It’s the hands-on experience where your messaging becomes your marketing, your content, and your sales process.”
Thread Desire, Demand, and Differentiation through every email, and you’ll see more opens, more clicks, and more conversions.
Using Messaging on Instagram
Instagram is one of the most frequent places I put messaging in business into action. I create intentional content designed to meet people at different stages of their buyer journey.
Here’s how it looks:
- Desire in the hook: Grab their attention with the first line or opening slide. Example: “Your work is powerful… so HOW do you communicate that?”
- Demand in the caption: Spark urgency so they feel “I need this now.” Example: “If you’ve been putting marketing on hold while you pour into clients – your business won’t grow if you treat it as an afterthought.”
- Differentiation in your angle: Share unique thoughts only you could say. Example: “Behind every great multi-6 and 7-figure business? Surprise – it’s me, quietly casting the messaging spells that bring in Sirius money.”
This is how you stand out instead of blending in with the same recycled content.
Why Messaging in Business Matters Every Day
At the end of the day, messaging in business is the anchor point for everything I do.
It’s how I sell, market, and attract dream clients who feel like a full-body yes.
When you start weaving Desire, Demand, and Differentiation into your content every day, your audience sees you differently. Not just as another option – but as the obvious choice.
So the next time you’re tempted to chase the latest trend, remember: it’s your messaging that makes every strategy work.
