5 ways to make 2023 easier (and generate more cash)

Why Social Media Shouldn’t Be Your Only Content Strategy.

I love talking about this, nearly as much as I love Ned

And I’ll start by saying yes I’ve built my business on social media, yes social media is important…BUT

Real talk – Social media is just ONE part of your content creation process!

Yes! Social media shouldn’t be your only content strategy!

Now I’m going to take a guess that right now social media is taking up:

ALL OF YOUR TIME

ALL OF YOUR BRAIN POWER and

ALL OF YOUR CREATIVITY

But here’s the thing – you don’t own your social media. Mark Zuckerberg does.  If he decides tomorrow that he’s shutting it down….think about…

a) how will you be able to get in contact with your community and

b) how will you market your business

Consider social media your shopfront, the first glimpse into you and your business. It’s the equivalent of the Yellow Pages.

How often do you check out a business on social media before you visit / eat there / buy from them?

You want to take your followers from window-shoppers (social media feed) to enter your shop (email list, website etc) and ultimately get them to buy from you.

Check out this graphic about how long your posts are seen on social media.

social-media-post-longevityThose social media posts you just spend so much time   creating…are likely to only have a lifespan of 48 hours…MAX!   They disappear into the black hole that is social media

How does that make you feel?

This was a big game changer for me and changed the way I created content completely.

You need to be spreading the love across multiple channels….social media is not your only content strategy (but don’t stress I’m not suggesting more time spent creating content….work smarter not harder!)

So how can you extend the lifespan of your content and get it working harder for you?

Create content that can be shared across multiple channels. Make it easier for yourself! Repackage, repurpose and reuse content across social media, emails, Pinterest, blogs, YouTube, TikTok etc.

This will help you get max impact out of every single creation. More website traffic, more email subscribers, more followers – and create this for your biz on repeat.

How do you turn one piece of content into multiple pieces?

If you follow me on social media, you would know that last year I ran a challenge to repurpose social media posts that you’ve used before. So using that as an example….

  • I started with a big idea.
  • I issued the challenge to my email list and social media followers.
  • I repurposed the 9 social media posts.
  • I wrote a blog on my website.
  • I sent an email about that blog to my list telling them the results.
  • I wrote more social media posts about the blog – directing them to my website.
  • I created pins on Pinterest that direct straight to the blog on my website.
  • I’m writing about it now…

And from that one idea I have created 20 + pieces of content and it’s something that will be consistently reused and repurposed forever and ever in my business.

See? Simples!

Content repurposing can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it.
