Give me consistent cash and I’m as happy as Hermione at exam time.
Over the last 4 years, I’ve built a consistent $10k+ cash baseline in my business. It means $10k months are the minimum for my business – and anything I earn on top of that is a magical bonus.
I didn’t get to this baseline by getting caught up in the latest trends or being distracted by shiny shit.
I’ve reached recurring $10K months by prioritising these business basics:
1. Offer creation
2. Messaging & Marketing
3. Launching & Selling
4. Creating a memorable personal brand
5. Building & nurturing my community
I know: boring, right? Hear me out… They may sound boring, but I’ve consistently done the things that many people avoid because they’re too busy focusing on how to create a viral Reel or ‘quantum leap’ to 6-figures overnight.
These boring basics might not give you the same excitement rush as seeing Harry Styles in concert, BUT you better believe they work.
And the businesses that DO prioritise these boring basics – are the businesses that stick around for a long time.
Getting to a baseline of 5-figure months requires testing, tweaking, failing and succeeding.
It’s like that scene in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when they’re trying to create the Liquid Luck potion. Sometimes they add the wrong ingredient and it blows up in their face, or when Harry gets the right amount of each ingredient and hello, perfect potion.
You probably won’t get the perfect mix to consistently hit 5-figure months immediately – but use the opportunities to collect data, make changes and trust the process.
And as you and your business grow and evolve – so will the makeup of your income.
I went from 100% done-for-you work to incorporating digital products, coaching, and online programs.
Last month the breakdown of my income looked like this:
- 54% online programs (including my mastermind)
- 33% clients’ work (done for you and support coaching)
- 13% 1:1 business coaching
It’s about finding the right mix for YOU and your business.
6 Steps To Creating Consistent $10k+ Income Months
1. Diversify your income streams
Now I want to preface this by saying you need to be able to sell one offer well and consistently make sales from it BEFORE you start to add in different income streams.
It wasn’t until I was fully booked with done-for-you content clients, that I started to tweak the makeup of my income sources.
So, if you’re consistently making sales from one offer, it’s time to look at adding to your offer suite.
This might look like:
- Digital product
- Online program
- Group coaching
- One-off intensives
- Day rates
- Support roles
And that leads me nicely onto the next thing which is…
2. Consider your customer journey
You want people to buy from you more than once.
Let me tell you – it’s way easier to convert existing clients or customers or get them to buy from you again than it is to convert cold leads (aka people new to your world).
And yet people are really out there busting their asses trying to grow their audience, so busy that they forget about the people who are way closer to buying from you!
You need to be continually filling your sales funnel/pipeline with potential clients AND also nurturing the potential clients you already have in your existing community. Don’t ignore them!
When it comes time to diversify your income streams, ask yourself these questions:
- What is the next step for my clients or customers after they’ve purchased this offer? i.e. How can I continue to work with this client again and again?
- Where are the gaps in my offer suite? The opportunities to create an offer that solves the next problem my clients have.
- What are my community telling me they’re currently navigating that I could create an offer around to support them?
You want to create an offer suite that creates an opportunity for you to continue to support your clients and therefore increase the lifetime value of one client.
Not only do these clients want to buy everything you offer – they also become your biggest brand advocates and will shout your name from the rooftops without you asking them to do so!
Ok, so the next thing you can do to create a $10k+ per month in your business is…
3. Create and share consistent content
This quite literally goes without saying.
You need to have a marketing strategy to make sure you’re getting in front of your ideal clients and building a relationship with them.
You can’t expect to make consistent cash in your business if you don’t have a consistent presence and remain top of mind for your ideal clients.
You do this through the content you share. And no social media alone is not enough.
We’re in 2023 – if you’re still solely using social media and not hitting $10k months, it’s time to diversify your content channels.
You also need to be sharing different types of content to meet your ideal client at whatever stage they’re at along their purchase decision-making process.
Yep – not all content is created equal!
Your content needs to speak to the different stages of the buyer decision-making process:
- What do the people who are new to your world need to know about you and your offers
- What do the people who are close to buying from you need to know about you and your offers
Note: Sharing tips and tricks is also not enough.
If you want to take your income to the next level, your content also needs to reflect that. This means sharing your story and your unique point of view on relevant topics in your industry.
4. Launch & sell your offers regularly
If you want to hit those consistent $10k+ months you need to stop avoiding launching and selling.
That’s basic bitch level stuff!
If you still feel icky about selling and launching – you need to do some serious mindset work around this.
You’re in business – knowing how to sell is non-negotiable. Especially if you expect to take your income to the next level.
And making shit up as you go is also stopping you from hitting that next income level.
If you don’t have a clear plan for what you’re launching and selling in your business for the next 6 months – we need to have a chat.
Book it in – you need to get clear on your sales plan of attack so you can show up and make shit happen in your business and do it with intention and purpose.
Now pay close attention to my next tip, it’s super important…
5. Give things time to stick
Are you guilty of switching things up 2.5 seconds after you don’t see immediate results?
I see you!
It seems like every 5 minutes you’ve got a new offer, new IG bio, new messaging, new niche, and new title.
It’s giving whiplash vibes.
You need to allow TIME for things to work. And more than just 5-7 business days.
The online space will have you believe that if you haven’t made a zillion dollars after one Reel, then you’re trash.
It’s the same people who never had to wait a whole week to watch the next episode of a TV show. Yes! I’m old!
In a world where everyone wants everything right now, and results 5 minutes ago – be a rebel and take your fucking time.
Allow strategies time to actually work.
To generate results.
To gather data.
To build lasting relationships.
And one “failed” launch isn’t a sign to put it in the bin.
This is one of my biggest pet peeves in the online space – people expecting overnight results without putting in the work.
Business is NOT a race, and getting results the quickest means abso-freakin-lutely NOTHING.
If you want long-term sustainable success – slow down and enjoy the ride.
And one final thing…
6. Raise your prices
If you’re consistently calling in clients and making sales – and you can’t remember the last time you raised your prices – DO IT NOW!
If you want to reach those $10k+ months consistently, you need to be looking at your pricing regularly.
This is not about raising your prices for the sake of it.
It’s about looking at your pricing objectively to see if you’re being adequately paid for your time, knowledge and expertise.
Again, you’re in business – you don’t need to be a martyr.
You deserve to be paid for your zone of genius.
At the end of the day – consistent income in your business comes down to:
Consistent messaging & marketing
Consistent launching & selling
Combined with a strategy that works for you + your business
If you’re not consistent in your actions, don’t expect consistent cash flow in your business.
