The Best of the How I Do Content Podcast. Messaging + Marketing Magic from 200 Episodes

Welcome to Episode 200 of the How I Do Content Podcast!

Two hundred mother-fucking episodes of messaging and marketing lessons!

Most podcasts don’t even make it past episode 10.

But this podcast? It’s not a side project or a cute little experiment I gave up on when life got busy – I maintained this elite level of consistency for 200 episodes. This means I’m in the top 1% of podcasters for longevity – no one does consistent quality content like I do.

It’s been 200 episodes of me, showing up to this mic, dropping Dumbledore-level strategy and sharing what’s hot on my heart in the hope it helps you to embrace your unique blend of magic and do business in a way that works for YOU.

And you know what’s wild?

When I go back and listen to past episodes (usually while I’m repurposing them into fresh content, because… duh, strategy), I realise how fucking relevant they still are.

So in today’s 200th episode, I’m going into the vault and pulling out five of the biggest marketing and messaging lessons from some of your most-listened-to solo episodes.

The ones that built my business, sold out my offers, and helped clients go from “what do I even say?” to “holy shit, I’m booked out.”

So for the 200th time – let’s dive in.

messaging and marketing lessons from 200 episodes

Lesson 1: Specific Messaging Is the New Standard

The one thing that’s made the biggest difference in my business and for my clients? Specific messaging.

If your content still says things like “save time,” “make more money,” or “feel empowered” – you may as well be wearing an invisibility cloak to your ideal clients. That kind of copy doesn’t grab attention or convert (it never did).

In Episode 97, I shared how to sharpen your messaging so it actually makes people feel seen and ready to buy.

Ask yourself:

  • The exact moment my ideal client realises they need help? What was that?
  • What does the before state actually feel like in their day-to-day?
  • The specific outcome they’re craving, even if they don’t say it out loud

If your messaging could be copied and pasted into someone else’s post – it’s not specific enough.

Lesson 2: Your Launch Strategy Needs Repetition

This was the lesson from Episode 74, where I broke down a $50k sales month – and it wasn’t luck. It was strategy.

What made it work? A repeatable launch process, clear offer messaging, and a content plan that met different types of buyers along the way (not just the ones ready to buy now).

Yes, there was a whole lotta repeating myself. And that’s the point.

Repetition builds recognition. Recognition builds trust.

Ask yourself:

  • What does my audience needs to hear in the lead-up?
  • Am I creating content for the person who isn’t ready yet?
  • Am I repeating myself enough that people actually remember what I offer?

You’re not being annoying – you’re being effective.

Lesson 3: Your Messaging Has to Match the Buyer Journey

In Episode 39, I broke down one of the most overlooked parts of messaging: the customer journey.

If your content isn’t converting, it might not be your content – it could be that your message isn’t meeting people where they are.

Your messaging should be like a map. It guides your audience from “I think I need help” to “Take my money.”

You need to:

  • Understand how your ideal client makes decisions
  • Speak to what they need to hear to move forward
  • Create content that builds trust at every stage

Great messaging doesn’t just attract – it moves.

Lesson 4: Simplicity Is Your Scaling Strategy

In Episode 49, I shared the truth about scaling in years 1 to 3.

It’s doing the simple things really, really well.

The businesses that scale sustainably? They refine before they expand. They don’t need more – they need focus.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I have one core offer that people know me for?
  • Is my message consistent across platforms?
  • Am I selling clearly and regularly – or hiding behind filler content?

You don’t need a 17-step funnel. You need clarity. You need consistency. Simplicity scales.

Lesson 5: Stop Playing Safe – Have a Damn Point

100 episodes ago I said it – and it still holds true now: Say what you actually want to say.

No watering it down. No people-pleasing. Just clear, confident content that positions you as the go-to.

Because in 2025? Everyone sounds the same. The content is technically fine but completely forgettable.

    Ask yourself:

    • What’s the thing I actually want to say, but I’ve been holding back?
    • What does my audience need to hear, even if it ruffles a few feathers?
    • Am I sharing recycled ideas or original insight?

Your voice is your magic. Stop dulling it down.

The content that connects and converts? It actually says something.

    Why These Lessons Still Matter

These messaging and marketing lessons still mater because they’re not hacks. They’re not trends. They’re foundations.

    They help you:

    • Be seen for the right reasons – not just because you’re loud
    • Sell in a way that feels strong, clear, and actually works
    • Build a brand that feels like you, not a carbon copy

In 2025, people are tired of fluff and filler. They want clarity, confidence, and real connection.

Meanwhile, you’re drowning in a sea of sameness and bot-generated content.

The businesses cutting through? They’re not the loudest. They’re the clearest.
